SAMUEL’S ART DOES HIM WORLD OF GOOD

-

LOCAL artist Samuel Dunn is shining a light on the conversation about mental health.

After spiralling into a depression after he graduated from graphic design studies at university four years ago, Mr Dunn, of Labrador, knows first hand the challenges that come with suffering ill mental health.

But through art, Mr Dunn was able to manage his depression and negative thought processes and to this day, uses art as a therapy and a coping mechanism to channel his depression.

His work will be displayed at the upcoming Arts & Minds Gala in Brisbane with other emerging and established artists, including Tracie Easton from Oxenford.

He describes his art as being “tongue-in-cheek, popart with a twist of nostalgia”, focusing on consumerism and capitalism.

Mr Dunn works with pencil and technical pens, as well as digital platforms and experiments with print making.

The Arts & Minds Cocktail Gala 2018 will be held at 480 Queen St in Brisbane tomorrow from 6pm to 9pm.

Tickets are $55.
