Griffith uni campuses go smoke-free
STUDENTS, staff and visitors to Griffith University campuses will be able to enjoy a completely smoke-free environment.
Yesterday, the five southeast Queensland campuses – Gold Coast, Logan, Nathan, Mt Gravatt and Southbank – implemented the permanent no-smoking initiative to coincide with World No Tobacco Day.
Pro Vice Chancellor (Health) Professor Sheena Reilly said the decision was made in March, with the initiative implemented yesterday.
“We took time to ensure there was adequate consultation with staff and that we had time to put in place support for staff who want to quit,” she said. “Informing and educating staff and students across our five campuses about the process to come was critical.”
