AUSTRALIANS phoning Centrelink have received 10 million fewer busy signals in recent months, but there are still far more calls going unanswered than getting through.

Callers have been met with busy signals 36.3 million times this financial year, alongside four million abandoned attempts. This compares to 23.3 million successful calls.
