Berg legal team quits

A RUSSIAN refugee who faked qualifications to work as a psychiatrist in Queensland hospitals must wait to learn his fate after his lawyers quit.

Vincent Victor Berg was due to be sentenced at the Southport District Court yesterday, but his legal team abandoned the case citing an irreconcilable conflict.

Barrister Sarah Thompson told the court she and solicitor Michael Gatenby were “no longer able to remain in the matter. We are conflicted”.

Judge Katherine McGinness excused Ms Thompson and adjourned the matter until June 14 to give Berg, who was remanded in custory, time to find a new legal team.
