MAL LANDS NICE TUSK

-

IN yet another sign of just healthy our Broadwater is we are seeing an increasing number of these beautiful tusk fish caught by anglers. This one was caught by Brad smith charters last week out the front of Charis seafoods by Brisbane local Malcolm. While local divers in the seaway have noticed the large numbers for years now around areas like the pipeline we are now seeing them move further around the Broadwater. Tusk fish need coral and structure to feed relying on their tough beaks to break open oysters and similar crustaceans so you need to fish where there is reef. Although they are regarded as a great eating fish I recommend releasing any tusk fish as Brad did on this occasion as they are too pretty to keep.
