ADJUSTING THE POWER TO PACE

LAST weekend was a stellar time for motorsport in this country with wins by Daniel Ricciardo and Will Power. The victory by Will at the Indy 500 brought back memories of when we were seated next to him at the Indy driver’s breakfast here about 10 years ago. The talk turned to fast speeds and Will revealed a most surprising fact. On his first drive in an Indy car his initial reaction was that he didn’t think he could handle the 350kph speeds. For the first few laps he confessed to being unsure but then suddenly everything seemed to slow down as he adjusted to the blistering pace. Perseverance pays off.
