As a Suns gold member I have given up on them. They have promised the world, delivered nothing and are no closer to being competitive.

We need more women’s jails. They’re dangerously overcrowded. With this age of female entitlement and their “l’ll do what l like” attitudes they’re being sent to jail in droves and we need to take steps to accommodate these naughty little felons. Dave

Re: Cheap shots in the NRL. The game has changed for the better since I played. But cheap shots on play makers deserve more than a week’s suspension. Perhaps immediate send off and also face the judiciary should get the message across. Perhaps some would think it a tad hard but it would certainly stamp out the cheap shots. PFT

The players Queensland will miss the most in State of Origin are Blake Ferguson and Mitchell Pierce. Rocket

Just wondering why you can use a smart phone app at BP service stations to pay for fuel without going to the counter. Yet we have been told for years not to use your mobile phone at a service station. MG

Just found the cause of my power bill increase. The Christmas tree lights at Tedder Ave have been shining since well before Christmas Day. Doug

Battlers are doing it tough now and interest rates are low. Can you imagine what will happen when interest rates rise? Perfect financial storm brewing and when it hits it won’t be pretty. Lisa

Watched the rugby on the weekend … great wins by the Tahs, of course, an expected win by the Rebels and our Brumbies. Can’t wait for Saturday night. Noel Re housing bubble: If this imaginary event takes place don’t worry, unless you’re a tenant, because the rent will always increase due to supply and demand. The Guru.

The condition of Metricon before the Suns game was disgusting. No clean-up after the Commonwealth Games was done. I will be sending Peter Beattie my dry cleaning bill. A total disgrace. GK

It seems that widening of the M1 from four to six lanes to the border is a go. In the same breath, Mayor Tom is doing his best to reduce the Gold Coast Highway to crawl speeds by running the light rail down the centre. Go figure. GT

Barry Jenkinson, you really need to do your research. Palm Beach and Burleigh do

not want trams or light rail. Like Broadbeach, business will be crippled. Send it west and link with existing infrastructure.

It always amazes me how developers or other business owners who are declared bankrupt, always seem to be continuing to live in splendour while creditors are suffering. The law should strip them back to basic essentials.

The reason residents were allowed to stay long term at the Kirra Beach caravan tourist park was solely for a steady income return. A tourist park with a minimum stay would not have generated the same income and would have seen the park nearly empty from time to time.

Our Mayor Tom Tate would love to see another casino on the Coast. What happened to the vision of there being an educational hub? Your article on Tate wants us to be another Las Vegas, whereas I think the locals would prefer us to shed our cringe-worthy image as seen by interstate people and comments made by comedians on TV.

GN I totally agree with you, political correctness has gone way over the top. When and where is your next lunch, I’d love to join you. John Z

Re: Your View (GCB, 2/6) Deb Frecklington, the leader of the States’s opposition, is promising what they will do for us under a Frecklington led government in two years time. Well Deb, knowing the LNP’s track record over the past few years for leaders I wouldn’t hold your breath. You might be by then a thing of the past.

James P McGuire.

The hapless GC Suns being flogged by The Geelong Cats at half time by 54 points, disgraceful...Observer.

To Leigh the cabbie. Hate to bust your balloon but the silver rings outside the Corporate Centre were a feature of Expo 88 which was then purchased by the developer of that project. Ed Mermaid

This off and on BS with the US and North Korea is questionable. As soon as this facade is over, our attention will be drawn back to poor old Israel’s plight instigating wars in the mid east. It’s pathetic, 21st century and we’re still be treated like mushrooms.

In relation to Ray Monahan s’ letter 4/6 Ocean Way” Bilinga. This path is progressive for many, especially the disabled and mobility impaired. It will put a smile on their face and many others. Lookout

Overboard shipping containers would be a good seek and destroy exercise for our Armed Forces -Palmyboy
