Voodoo faces a hoodoo

-

AUSTRALIA’S leading trainer Darren Weir has had 23 runners in Queensland Group 1 races but is yet to crack it for a win.

He has Voodoo Lad in the Stradbroke Handicap on Saturday and possibly Danon Liberty, who is first emergency.

Weir has a stronger hand in the Queensland Derby (2200m) on Saturday, with Grand Prix Stakes winner Heavenly Thought and Lucky For All, who had bad luck last time at Sandown.

Before that Lucky For All had beaten Heavenly Thought over 1700m at Warrnambool and then had three lengths to spare on Mahamedeis, who ran well for fifth in the Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) at Doomben on May 26.
