Sharks star recognised

SOUTHPORT defender Dan Charlesworth’s best-onground performance against Gold Coast on Saturday has earned him the Round 9 NEAFL Rising Star nomination.

Charlesworth, who relocated from Cairns at the age of 16 to chase an opportunity with the Gold Coast Suns Academy, collected 22 disposals and five marks in the Sharks’ 14-point loss to the Suns at Fankhauser Reserve.

“I couldn’t be happier at Southport. I enjoy the club and I can’t wait to try to reach more success at the Sharks,” the 19year-old said.
