IRISH ENJOY 40KM RUN ON WATER

- SUZANNE SIMONOT suzanne.simonot@news.com.au

THE Irish rugby team went for a 40km run on water on the Gold Coast this week ahead of the first of its three Test match series against the Wallabies in Brisbane.

The Six Nations champions spent Monday exploring the Broadwater on a Jet Ski Safaris guided tour from Mariner’s Cove to South Stradbroke Island and back – a trip previously enjoyed by star visitors suxh as the Foo Fighters and Outkast’s Big Boi.

Still on a high after pulling off their Grand Slam at Twickenham in March, scrumhalf Conor Murray and fullback Rob Kearney proved as smooth on water as they are on land.

The Irish squad flew into Brisbane on Sunday and checked into the Royal Pines at Ashmore, enjoying a round of golf at Lakelands on Wednesday as part of their relaxed build-up to tomorrow’s first Test.
