Sharks searching for consistency
REPRODUCING their top form against the Gold Coast Premier League’s lesser lights has been the focus for Palm Beach ahead of tonight’s battle with Tweed United.
The Sharks were unlucky to fall 1-0 to title heavyweights Gold Coast Knights last weekend, leaving coach Brett Budwee lamenting an inability to find consistency from week to week.
Precariously sitting five points adrift of the top four, they travel to Arkinstall Park at 8.30pm to tackle a Tweed side that has picked up just two points from seven rounds.
For Budwee, backing up the effort showed against the Knights, who they beat in the
semi-final of the Club Health and Wellness Cup last month, will be key.
“I’ve watched Tweed a few times, they’re a decent team, so we’ll have to be on our game,” Budwee said.
“Grae (Piddick, Knights coach) told me ‘tell your boys
to put that effort in every week, don’t just save it for the Knights’ and that’s probably a good call.
“The biggest disappointment for me (last week) was that the game plan worked, the effort was there and the difference between the win and a

draw was just a mistake (Knights scored from).
“It was really disappointing that that was the difference between the teams.”
The loss to the Knights was the fourth on the trot for the Sharks, while Tweed have lost their past two, including a 4-0 to Nerang in Round 7.
Tomorrow, Burleigh Heads will look to extend their winning streak to eight games when they travel to Broadbeach at 6pm, before lastplaced Mudgeeraba host Surfers Paradise at 7pm.
Coomera face Nerang at Viney Park at 3pm on Sunday.
The Knights travel to Sunshine Coast at 4.30pm on Sunday in Round 7 of the FFA Cup preliminary stages. The winner progresses to the Round of 32.
