Reid to milk shot for all it’s worth

-

SAM Reid’s amazing rebirth as a footballer could be bad news for the dairy and meat industries.

The Giants forward says he has reaped the benefits of his decision two years ago to dramatically alter his diet by eliminating dairy and red meat from food menu.

He now says he is running faster and stronger than any time in his remarkable career

“The changes in my diet have helped me a lot in how I perform and how I recover,” Reid said.

“I’ve cut out dairy completely, I’ve cut heaps of food out of my diet with more focus on natural antiinflammatory foods. I feel like I’ve got a bit quicker. I only eat meat twice a week, the rest is plant based foods and when I do eat meats it’s chicken and fish.”

Not only is Reid’s pace improving, his endurance has hit new peaks after he ran the fastest 3km time trial of his career during the pre-season. His stamina has made him a valuable asset to his side.

The new diet hasn’t just helped with continuity at training, it’s assisted the former Western Bulldog to an unusual record of the longest gap in AFL history between his first and 50th games.
