Clayton up to fourth
JOSH Clayton has joined fellow Southport player Andrew Boston in the race for the NEAFL Most Valuable Player award following a stunning performance in the Sharks’ win over Sydney University.
Boston still leads the count (46) after polling four votes last weekend but Clayton’s 10 votes have propelled him to fourth (42) on the MVP list.
The top five players are now separated by only six votes after a big round of voting.
Aspley’s Matthew Payne (10 votes) and Canberra’s Mitch Maguire (eight) both had top performances in Round 10 to hold second and third respectively on the leaderboard.
Sharks key forward Mitch Johnson is now within five goals of NEAFL leading goalkicker Matt Hammelmann (Redland) after slotting five majors on the weekend.
Second-placed Southport are away to cellar-dwellers Redland on Saturday.
