Stockwell relishing chance to dent Dogs

JACK Stockwell is set to celebrate his re-signing with the Titans by taking on some of the competition’s biggest forwards to prove he can have an impact in the league.

Stockwell, whose stay on the Gold Coast has been extended until the end of the 2019 season, will start at prop for the Titans in their clash against the Bulldogs in Sydney on Saturday.

And the 26-year-old is looking forward to stepping into Wallace’s shoes and making his mark as a starter after a pre-season shoulder reconstruction nobbled his start at the Titans.

“I think I’m getting (back to my best), the former St George Illawarra and Newcastle forward said.

“I just think it will keep coming naturally, keep getting better and better and I hope the confidence grows as well and I’ll keep going with it.”

Stockwell is relishing his chance to make a statement against the Dogs’ starting props David Klemmer and Aaron Woods as the Titans grapple for a win that would keep their slim finals hopes alive.

“They’ve got a few big boppers,” Stockwell said.

“Klem (Klemmer) is obviously playing Origin at the moment but they’ve pretty much got a good team all over the park. There’s no one really there you can single out as not doing their job.

“It’s going to be a good test and I’m really looking forward to stepping up and starting for (Wallace). I’m really looking forward to getting out there.”

Wallace took an early guilty plea to a cannonball tackle on South Sydney player Cameron Murray.
