NEW TWIST PUTS ‘FUN’ IN BAKERY

- CAMPBELL GELLIE

SMOKED brisket and pulled pork sausage rolls, hemp flour and chai custard doughnuts, croissants, bagels and artisan sourdough breads are just some of the offerings from Mr Buttergoods.

Mr Buttergoods isn’t a real person – but if he was he would like the new bakery named after him, says owner John Denvers.

The bakery at 7th Ave, Palm Beach, is the offshoot of Lester and Earl, a barbecue smoke house that sits upstairs.

Mr Denvers said he wanted it to be a fun bakery full of sweet and savoury pastries, ice creams, coffee and a few breakfast items.

“Palm Beach is like a small town and the biggest growing demographic is young families,” he said.

“There is not much here for them at the moment so we wanted to make something that was fun.”

The bakery opened this week and manager Jackson Snook said he was already eating too much.

“The baker and pastry chef keep presenting us with their ideas, so there is a bite here and a bite there,” he said. “I really like our smoked brisket and pulled pork sausage roll.”
