Young mum allegedly groped at Main Beach

-

POLICE are investigating an alleged indecent assault at Main Beach where a young Gold Coast mother claims she was groped by a man in broad daylight.

In vision captured by the woman on her phone, a man in his 60s reaches out and allegedly grabs her chest on the sand off SeaWorld Drive about noon yesterday.

In the video, the man speaks with the woman’s twoyear-old child and moves to stroke the mother’s arm. He then reaches to grab her chest.

The woman said she walked away from the man and phoned the police.

On social media, she wrote: “I was so scared and was just thinking of how I could get out of the situation and also didn’t want to aggravate him.

“He asked me if I wanted to have a coffee. I said ‘no sorry’ and then he was saying how pretty I was and that he likes my hair. Just weird s**t.

“He then was grabbing me again, but this time more forcefully. He grabbed my face and tried kissing me on the lips and then grabbed my boob. I pushed him away and said ‘I don’t like that!’

“He then said I better go and walked off and drove away,” she said. TWEED Shire Council yesterday selected 13 locals to take part in a community reference group which will assist councillors in their deliberations with the NSW Government about alternative sites for a new $534 million hospital.

The group will have two meetings later this month before council meets the government to discuss plans for the hospital.

The Tweed Daily News will hold a community forum about the hospital controversy on Monday.

The meeting, hosted by Daily News editor Nikki Todd, will take place from 5-7pm at Tweed Heads Civic Centre.
