Huawei still hoping

-

HUAWEI Australia chairman John Lord has reiterated his claim the Chinese company does not pose a threat to national security amid reports it will be barred from working on the 5G network.

The former rear admiral in the Australian Navy yesterday said Huawei was still hopeful that it would play a part as telcos prepared to roll out 5G infrastructure across Australia.

Mr Lord told the ABC the technology company was still in talks with the federal government and had not come across any “real concerns” about its participation in the 5G network development process.

His comments follow reports Huawei would be banned from having any involvement.
