Starlet blows Ireland away
NEW Zealand teenage cricket sensation Amelia Kerr tore up the record books in Dublin by reaching 232 not out against Ireland yesterday, the highest score in women’s one-day international cricket.
She surpassed former Australian captain Belinda Clark’s unbeaten 229 against Denmark in 1997, three years before Kerr was born.
Making her 145-ball knock more extraordinary is that the 17-year-old is a specialist leg-spinner – who then claimed 5-17 bowling.
