- with Joel McInnes

GOLD Coast teams have showcased their strong junior talent with a remarkable six teams making Basketball Queensland grand finals tomorrow.

Gold Coast and Seahawks both had a strong presence in the semi-finals last weekend and will travel in big numbers to Upper Mount Gravatt to support their under-12 and 14 stars as they try to come home with a gold medal.

Gold Coast basketball is represented by the Breakers under-12 boys, Breakers under-14 boys, Waves under12 girls and, for the first time, the under-14 Waves, Breakers and Rollers teams have made the final, showcasing how much talent there is in the age group. This is a remarkable achievement and all teams will be a good chance to win their finals.

The Seahawks have their undefeated under-14 boys smashing their way through to the grand final, even without one of their stars Mackenzie Hall.

League leading scorer Elijah Kamu was dominant snaring 32 points in the semifinal, supported by Maycen Lee Soliai who had 21 and Mekhi O’Riley who had 13.

They will face Brisbane Capitals in the grand final.

The two sides first met in Round 4 where Seahawks won 60-38.

In the second meeting in Round 8, the Seahawks sneaked by them with a onepoint win, so we’re in for a hotly contested final.
