Seagulls docked points
RUNAWAY Bay’s mission to go one better in the 2018 Rugby League Gold Coast Agrade competition has been hit by a penalty.
The Bulletin can confirm the reigning runners-up were docked three competition points – equivalent to a win – for fielding a suspended player.
As a result, Bay currently sit fifth on the ladder, despite their 5-3 record and +6 differential being good enough for third.
It is understood the incident involved former Intrust Super Cup player Kingi Akauola taking the field in Round 3 against Burleigh, a week before the end of the ban he copped for his part in ugly grand final scenes last year at Pizzey Park.
The sixth-placed Bears square off with Bay tomorrow at Pizzey Park.
