SURF FORECAST
S swell picks up today and tomorrow; favouring northern NSW coasts in the 3 to 5ft range under fresh SW to SSW winds, with scope for larger surf reaching 4 to 6ft at the more exposed south facing breaks.
Expect tiny 1 to 2ft surf across the most exposed beaches on today, preceding a gradual push into the 2 to 3ft range as midperiod SSE to SE swell fills in from Wednesday to Friday.
TODAY
Directional S swell builds in. Sets to 3 to 5ft+ northern NSW southern exposures, grading to 2 to 4ft open beaches. Grading to a slow 1 to 2ft max exposed southern QLD coasts and virtually flat elsewhere. WIND: Early WSW to SW 15 to 25 knots, tending SSW during the afternoon.
TOMORROW
Stronger mid-period S swell builds in. Sets to 4 to 6ft northern NSW southern exposures, grading to 3 to 5ft open beaches depending on exposure. Ranging from 1 to 3ft exposed southern QLD coasts and virtually flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Early SW 15 to 20 knots, tending SSW during the day and S later.
THURSDAY
Mid period SSE swell around 4 to 5ft northern NSW south facing breaks, grading to 3 to 5ft open beaches depending on exposure. Sets to 2 to 3ft exposed southern QLD coasts and 1 to 2ft inside the points and bays. WIND: WSW to SW 10 to 20 knots, tending S to SSE later.
FRIDAY
Mid period SE groundswell ranges from 3 to 5ft northern NSW south facing breaks, grading to 2 to 4ft open beaches depending on exposure. Grading to 2 to 3ft+ exposed southern QLD coasts and 1 to 2ft+ inside the points and bays. WIND: WSW to SW 5 to 15 knots, tending S to SE during the afternoon.
SATURDAY
SE swell 2 to 4ft exposed breaks early, easing to 2 to 3ft during the afternoon. Grading smaller inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: W to SW 5 to 10 knots tending variable, then light S to SE during the afternoon.
