SUMMARY

A continued run of S swell favours northern NSW coasts in the 3 to 5ft range under fresh SW to SSW winds, with scope for larger surf reaching 4 to 6ft at the more exposed south facing breaks. Swell direction trends SSE to SE and gradually eases from today to Friday, opening up improving conditions as winds tend lighter WSW to SW.

TODAY

Stronger mid-period S swell builds in. Sets to 4 to 6ft northern NSW southern exposures, grading to 2 to 5ft open beaches depending on exposure. Ranging from 1 to 3ft exposed southern QLD coasts, inconsiste­nt in the upper range. Virtually flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Early SW 15 to 20 knots, tending SSW during the day and S later.

TOMORROW

Mid period SSE swell around 4 to 5ft+ northern NSW south facing breaks, grading to 3 to 5ft open beaches depending on exposure. Sets to 2 to 3ft exposed southern QLD coasts and 1 to 2ft inside the points and bays. WIND: WSW to SW 10 to 20 knots, tending S to SSE later.

FRIDAY

Mid period SE groundswel­l ranges from 3 to 4ft+ northern NSW south facing breaks, grading to 2 to 4ft open beaches depending on exposure. Sets to 2 to 3ft+ exposed southern QLD coasts and 1 to 2ft+ inside the points and bays. WIND: WSW to SW 5 to 15 knots, tending S to SE during the afternoon.

SATURDAY

SE swell 2 to 4ft exposed breaks early, easing to 2 to 3ft during the afternoon. Grading smaller inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: W to SW 5 to 10 knots tending variable, then light S to SE during the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Leftover SE swell slowly fades. Slow sets 1 to 3ft northern NSW southern exposures. Grading to a slow 1 to 2ft exposed southern QLD coasts and tiny elsewhere.
