POLICE are appealing for public help to track down a middle-aged female driver with bad teeth who bashed an 18-year-old woman in a road rage attack on the M1.

The young Tugun driver was entering the M1 from a ramp at Worongary and merging with the motorway’s left lane about 7.15am on Wednesday.

Police say a utility driver, believed to be a woman aged between 40 and 50, was changing from a middle lane to the left lane at the time and attempted to force the 18-yearold’s her vehicle off the road.

She then tailgated the younger driver, who pulled off the road.

The older woman left the ute and attacked the young driver, punching her while she was seated in her car and damaging her small sedan.

Police yesterday urged witnesses to come forward and asked for any driver with dashcam footage to contact them, because the attack occurred at a motorway blind spot with no CCTV coverage.

“The 18-year-old female driver was forced to pull over in relation to the actions of a white colour utility that was driven in an erratic manner,” Acting Senior Sergeant Graeme Roberson said.

“After pulling over, the female driver of the utility allegedly assaulted the teenage driver of the Astra, punching her in the face several times and to the body also.

“I believe the window was down and a conversation took place between the two before the assault took place.

“Further to that, the female removed the windscreen wiper from her vehicle and damaged the windscreen utilising that windscreen wiper.’’

He said police were seeking anyone who saw the attack or had dash-cam vision.

“We’re making this appeal because unfortunately the incident occurred where there was no vision from the camera

The assailant was described as caucasian, aged between 40 and 50, of average build with blonde/grey hair and decayed teeth. Her vehicle was described as a white dual-cab.

Acting Sen-Sgt Roberson said the teen was shaken.

“She came to the Nerang police station very distraught and upset, and obviously wanting to make the report and have it investigated,’’ he said. 10 GOOD, BAD AND UGLY PIECES OF HISTORY INCLUDING THE COAST
