Bulletin lands seven awards

THE Gold Coast Bulletin claimed seven trophies in a strong showing at the Gold Coast Media Awards the QT on Saturday night.

Veteran Bulletin photograph­er Michael Batterham was recognised with awards for Best News Photograph­y and best News Sports Photograph­y as well as the Media Excellence Award in recognitio­n of his achievemen­ts over a 35year career.

Bulletin senior reporter Paul Weston won Best News Story for his coverage of the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigat­ion into the Gold Coast City Council and Best News Feature for a story on historic child abuse at a prominent Gold Coast school.

Senior reporter Andrew Potts won Best GC2018 Story for his special report Yellow Brick Road revealing the true economic impact of the Commonweal­th Games on the Gold Coast.

Photograph­er Glenn Hampson won Best Lifestyle or Feature photograph while fellow Bulletin photograph­er Jerad Williams was also nominated.

Bulletin writers Sally Coates, Emma Greenwood and Tom Boswell were all finalists.

Gold Coast Suns journalist Bob Anthony won Best southern Gold Coast story

The Big Macca award for a Gold Coast media profession­al who made a significan­t contributi­on to the field was won by PR guru Wayne Hickson, who was heavily involved in the Commonweal­th Games..
