Maxima blitz nets Coast Rebels bikie
A GOLD Coast bikie faces a swag of serious charges after he was arrested during a statewide bikie consorting blitz over the weekend.
The 29-year-old Main Beach-based Rebels bikie was arrested on Friday during a raid by Taskforce Maxima.
He was charged with five counts of deprivation of liberty, break and enter with intent, three counts of robbery with violence, two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and in company, one count of wounding, one count of assault and three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The charges were in relation to an alleged burglary with violence in Brisbane on May 25.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
It comes as Taskforce Maxima officers and police across the state’s north west arrested or issued consorting warnings to 24 Rebels gang members during a major operation targeting habitual consorting.
Police swooped during simultaneous raids on Saturday morning, arresting six people – including patched Rebels members from the Mount Isa chapter – in Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Rockhampton.
Police Minister Mark Ryan praised the work of Taskforce Maxima, saying the tough new anti-gang laws was making a difference in the fight against organised crime.
