GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ MARK MAZZAGLIA

-

WINNERS

Natural Force (Race 6) Natural Force was solidly backed from $4.50 to start as $4 second favourite and his backers were happy to see him sweep down the outside to record a onelength win in the Class 1 Handicap.

Cool Mover (Race 8) Favourite backers finally got some relief at the end of the day with $3 favourite Cool Mover taking out the last on the eightevent program. Apprentice Stephanie Lacy wasn’t flustered in the middle stages when attacked for the lead and held her composure and once heads were turned for home Cool Mover strode clear to the cheers of her backers to record a 2¼length win.

LOSERS

Initialize (Race 2)

The heavily backed odds-on favourite ($1.70-$1.55) went down in a three-way photo to finish third. Apprentice Stephanie Lacy let Initialize slide to the front in the middle stages and led the field into the straight and was only run down in the final 50m. The Reward For Effort three-year-old filly will take great benefit from the first-up run.

Tivoli Street (Race 4) Favourite backers knew they were in trouble before the home turn when jockey Michael McNab started to urge Tivoli Street along to chase the leaders. The horse firmed from $3.60 to start $3.20 favourite. Even though the Chris Waller-trained gelding gained some ground in the straight under hard riding, he was never going to pick up the winner and was beaten one length.

Shijin (Race 5)

The $4 favourite Shijin was given no peace in front by her stablemate Pumps and succumbed to the pressure in the straight to finish third behind the runaway winner Sultry Testa. The Scott Morrisey- trained twoyear-old filly was always solid in the betting around the $4 mark but found the task against the older horses too tough.

NEXT TIME

Allena (Race 4)

Allena continued her good recent form and made it two wins at the Gold Coast from her past three starts in taking out the Class 5 Handicap. The four-year-old mare will be winning again on that effort and trainer Sam Strazzier is certain to find another suitable race for her.

Sultry Testa (Race 5)

The Glen Baker-trained Sultry Testa broke through for her maiden win by 5¾ lengths. Jockey Jason Taylor settled Sultry Testa in the middle of the pack and after easing the filly to the outside in the straight, she exploded away. She will be winning again soon.
