KINGSCLIFF have sounded another warning to their Gold Coast Hockey Association rivals with a 7-1 thumping of finals hopefuls Mudgeeraba in yesterday’s men’s division 1 clash at Labrador.

The ladder leaders were largely untroubled in the Round 13 clash, building on a 3-1 halftime lead that came courtesy of goals from Breydon Todd, Henry Prichard and Jason Wilson.

Nathan Eglington, Mitchell Carter, Dane McIntosh and Harrison Gray then found the net after the break to complete the rout and seal Kingscliff’s 11th win in 12 games.

William Forbes scored the lone goal for Mudgeeraba, who are now eight points behind fourth-placed Waratahs.

Second-placed Labrador beat battling Casuarina 6-3 yesterday, while Burleigh are third after downing Waratahs 5-1. Last-placed Capri drew 3-3 with Roosters.

In women’s division 1, Casuarina beat Mudgeeraba 2-0 and Roosters downed Murwillumbah by the same scoreline.
