Dolphins storm to glory

A SECOND-half onslaught carried Broadbeach United to the Club Health and Wellness Cup crown on Saturday night, coming from behind to outgun Palm Beach at Nikiforide­s Park.

Trailing 2-1 at halftime of the final, the Dolphins sprung to life after the break to finish 7-3 victors in front of a vocal home crowd.

Adam Powell and Luke Marsh both scored doubles, while man-of-the-match Justin Watmough also found the net for the Dolphins, who had booked their spot aft upsetting Burleigh Heads in the semi.

Palm Beach captain Jason Campbell was among the Sharks’ best, scoring their second goal before the break.

In the women’s final, player of the match Kate Webb scored twice to steer Southport 1 to a 5-0 win over Musgrave.

Kristina Dimovski also bagged a brace for the Warriors, who will now focus on securing their place in the Women’s Premier League.

In the first of Saturday’s cup finals, Surfers Paradise Apollo ran out convincing 4-0 winners over the Gold Coast Knights to claim the Reserve Grade silverware.

Simba Byung Ho Choi was named man of the match.
