A whole new ball game

-

THE Gold Coast Premier League has a new leader for the first time this season after the Gold Coast Knights edged out Murwillumbah on Friday night.

Sitting two points behind ladder-leading Burleigh Heads entering the Round 8 make-up clash at Croatian Sports Centre, the Knights did enough to secure a 1-0 win over the struggling Warning.

A goal to Morgan Saunders (pictured) was enough to hand the hosts their seventh win of the season and stretch their unbeaten run to nine games.

With the Premier League breaking over for the Club Health and Wellness Cup finals last Saturday, the competition will resume with Round 10 fixtures this weekend.

In the Gold Coast Women’s League, Broadbeach 1 kept their perfect record in tact yesterday with a 4-1 win over Southport 2, while Robina 1 disposed of Nerang 4-0.

On Friday night, Robina 2 thumped winless Kingscliff 6-1 at Walter Peate Reserve.
