Labrador remain in QAFL hunt

- – TOM BOSWELL

LABRADOR sit one win outside the top five but coach Aaron Shattock says a lot has to go right for the side to make their fifth straight QAFL grand final in 2018.

The Tigers beat Wilston Grange 24.11 (155) to 10.5 (65) on Saturday at Bendigo Bank Oval in what was their third win over the season and second over the Gorillas.

Bryce Retzlaff kicked eight goals in the win.

“We had a really good start against Wilston Grange,” Shattock said.

“Everything was going our way. They evened things up in the middle two quarters and we went away in the last quarter again.

“It was pleasing result considering the year we have been having.”

Labrador have struggled to replicate the form of recent seasons but they remain just four points behind Western Magpies, Morningside and Surfers Paradise who are placed third to fifth respectively.

Meanwhile, reigning premiers Palm Beach Currumbin beat Mt Gravatt 9.14 (68) to 8.7 (55) at Dittmer Park on Saturday.
