Gray home to boost her Bears

-

QUEENSLAND Origin forward Tazmin Gray raced home from Sydney to help her Burleigh club team to an important 16-6 victory over Brothers Ipswich yesterday.

Gray was delayed in her return but made it out to Blue Ribbon Motors Field just in time for warm-ups and went on to play a pivotal role for the Bears, less than 48 hours after lining up at North Sydney Oval.

Her arrival meant the depleted Bears could at least have one bench player to rotate through.

“Considering she played a lot of minutes the other night, she backed up really well,” coach Tahnee Norris said of Gray. “We’re grateful that we had her.”

Burleigh’s fourth straight win was set up by their firing forward pack.

“The forwards are just playing outstanding footy,” Norris said. “Again they are just making 60-plus metres every time they have the ball in hand so they are really laying the platform for us.

“They’re just playing really good footy at the moment. A lot of movement around the ruck area … it’s really paying off for us.”

Next up for first-placed Burleigh is a home game against Souths on Saturday.
