Bali arrest for Gold Coast man

-

A GOLD COAST man is among two Australians arrested in Bali over separate incidents in which they are accused of assaulting locals.

James Mihaka Nathan, 36, has been arrested and is facing a possible assault charge after being caught on CCTV allegedly trying to choke a young convenience store operator.

Nathan, whose passport lists his place of birth as Southport, is seen in the video putting his hands around the minimart staff member’s neck while other employees run and call for help. Nathan was arrested yesterday and was in custody at Kuta police station pending further investigations.

Police said the 24-year-old victim was working in a Kuta Circle K store when an angry foreigner, alleged to be Nathan, entered the store and started choking the victim, making it difficult for him to breathe.

A second man, James Frederick Doyle, 61, has also been locked up after allegedly assaulting a local family in a parking dispute.

Doyle, who lists a former address in Sydney, was arrested at the weekend. He was yesterday also at Kuta police station, where he has been classified as a suspect in the assault case, which appears to have been started with claims the local family’s car parked him in. He is accused of attacking two men.
