Denyer credits wife for his success

-

GRANT Denyer says that Sunday will be as much his wife’s night as his.

The 40-year-old presenter, who is up for the Gold Logie as well as Most Popular Presenter at the 60th annual TV Week Logie Awards, will be joined by partner Cheryl when he jets into the Gold Coast.

Denyer, who is nominated for now-defunct Channel 10 game show Family Feud, says he owes his success to the mother of his two children, Sailor, 7, and Scout, 2 – who will be watching from home.

“We make a pretty good team,” he said. “She has been instrumental in helping to grow my career, so this would be as much hers as it would be mine if I were to win. It’s a rare moment for us to stop and go ‘the hard work is worth it’.”

He said the “aggressive and exhausting” days of worrying about getting to “the top of the ladder” were behind him.

“You get to a point where you realise the industry ebbs and flows, and you get less panicked about things. It’s nice to just stop and look around, and realise how lucky you are to have lasted this long.”
