Ute search finds drugs

A MAN travelling with an eight-year-old boy in regional NSW is behind bars after allegedly being busted with 20kg of ice worth more than $10 million in his ute.

The 38-year-old man from South Australia was stopped at Balranald in the NSW Riverina on Monday evening with officers allegedly finding 15kg of methylamphetamine in the back of his ute.

A further 5kg of the drug was found in bags inside the vehicle, NSW Police said yesterday.

The man has been charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of drugs and possessing prohibited drugs.

He didn’t apply for bail at Wentworth Local Court and it was formally refused. He is to reappear at Broken Hill Local Court todayday. The child is being cared for by a government agency.
