Kinks back together

THE Kinks are getting back together, frontman Sir Ray Davies has revealed.

The group, which had a string of hits in the 1960s with You Really Got Me, Sunny Afternoon and Waterloo Sunset, disbanded in 1996.

But Sir Ray, 74, said: “We’ve been talking about it because I’ve got all these songs that I wrote, then the band – not broke up, we parted company – and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it.”

He said he was inspired by the Rolling Stones, who finished an eight-leg UK tour last week.

But Sir Ray admitted the reunion “won’t be well organised like the Stones”.
