Swinging Safari alongside Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Julian McMahon and Rahda Mitchell, now Burleigh Heads actor Ethan Robinson is being hailed as the next Chris Hemsworth and has his sights set on Hollywood.

The 18-year-old said getting the opportunity to work with his idols like Pearce was a dream come true.

“Swinging Safari was such an amazing first project to be involved in,” he said.

“I loved meeting actors like Guy, who I’ve looked up to for years, and Stephen Elliott is such a fun director.”

The budding film actor got his start on the local theatre stages of the Gold Coast, training “his whole life” at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) in Burleigh.

“I’ve been lucky that I’ve been able to train with some of the Gold Coast’s best teachers and directors,” he said.

“Last year, I filmed a Commemorative War Film for the National Museum in France and a Queensland Government ad for an anti-drug campaign.

“I’m currently working on a film called Danger Close, which is about The Battle of Long Tan, Vietnam.

“It’s being shot in Queensland which is so exciting.

“It’s great to see more pro- jects like this being filmed locally.

“I’m having such a great time on Danger Close – I’ve always wanted to be in a war film and I’m loving the action on set.”

Mr Robinson said the film industry was hard to break into but he was grateful to have a support network behind him.

“My Mum and Dad both share a love for the performing arts,” he said.

“Being surrounded by the arts my whole life has steered me into the direction of film acting as well as doing community theatre throughout the years of my life, from plays to musicals – I love it all.

“I’d love to be in a Marvel or Star Wars film. I’m a huge superhero and sci-fi fan, my whole family are, so that would be unreal.”

Mr Robinson wants to follow in the footsteps of his acting inspirations such as Hemsworth, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Pearce and Brad Pitt.

“There are so many … I could go on. I have loved Heath Ledger since I was a kid and found his passing devastating,” he said.

“Acting has always been my chosen career and can’t see myself doing anything else.

“I’m hoping to head over to the US eventually but want to do more local projects before taking that step. As long as I’m acting, I will be happy.”
