THE new $15 million Robina City Parklands will become a major community hub in the city’s centre, with plans to hold concerts and events there.

As the Bulletin revealed yesterday, ground will break on the 17ha parkland this year and will include a 5000-seat village green space, as well as fishing spots, walking trails, sporting fields and a cafe.

Council lifestyle boss Cr Hermann Vorster said the parklands would help “activate” the area around the stadium as an events space before and after Gold Coast Titans games.

“This is going to be a magnet for people who cheer the Titans on at the stadium and it is no mistake that the showcase park is called the village green – it is a hub for the community to gather in big numbers.

“It’s so people can support live music, provide cultural activation and a great civic space for celebrations which are important to the central Gold Coast.”

More than $1 million has been spent on masterplanning the site, which borders Mudgeeraba Creek.
