Tomic leads Aussie rush

AUSTRALIA’S men enjoyed a strong day in the second round of qualifiers for Wimbledon at the Bank of England Club in London yesterday.

Bernard Tomic, Thanasi Kokkinakis, John-Patrick Smith, Alex Bolt and Jason Kubler advanced to within one game of reaching the main draw for the All England Club next week.

Tomic brushed aside Tomislav Brikic 6-2, 6-4 to set up a clash with Belgian veteran Rubens Bemelmens. Kokkinakis was impressive, beating Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak 6-1, 6-4.
