Franklin brings up the ton

-

LANCE Franklin isn’t one for looking back.

But as he prepares to play his 100th game for the Sydney Swans in tonight’s Round 15 clash against Richmond, Franklin has discussed how much the 2016 Paul Kelly Award for the club’s player’s player means to him.

In his nine years at Hawthorn and his 99 games in red and white, the man they call Buddy has four Coleman Medals, seven All-Australian selections and a runner-up (2014) in the Brownlow Medal.

In Franklin’s mind the award named in honour of the great Swans captain sits comfortably alongside them.

“To be recognised by my teammates was bloody special,” Franklin said. “It was the best award at the club, it meant I was earning the players’ respect. (The award) is something I really value.”
