Sweet deal at bar for Tedder tipples

A MYSTERY businessman has built a $500,000 bar for the right person to swoop in and make it their own.

In a bid to revitalise Tedder Avenue, the Main Beach regular has paid for an entire fitout as a deal sweetener for an experienced hospitality guru.

Everything from the name, concept, menus and even terms of ownership is up for discussion.

“In terms of the operators, they can come in as an employee and run the whole business, or a partner in a joint venture or for the premises to be leased,” said Chanel Heeren from VO Group, acting for the businessman.

“Ideally his ultimate goal is to find somebody as a joint venture/owner operator who has extensive experience in hospitality and cocktail bar management.

“He chose Tedder Ave because he has lived in Main Beach for a long time and he wants to bring the life and culture back.”

The project, which would be the first licensed small bar in Main Beach, is in a small second storey site facing the intersection of Tedder Ave and Peak Ave, with open seating that faces picturesque trees and fairy lights.

While there is a newly fitted kitchen, the focus would be “world class’’ drinks.

“The venue is designed as a destination bar for a night out, suited for couples, singles and groups and an upmarket venue for work drinks or private events,” Ms Heeren said of her client’s vision.

“The bar extends the full length of the premises and would suit celebrity artisan mixologists from around the world.

“The interior is opulent with finishing geometric artwork from Emma Hack, the artist involved in the iconic Gotye Somebody I Used To Know film clip.

“There is also capability to extend to a rooftop outdoor venue in future.

“This really is an amazing opportunity for anyone who has always wanted to own a bar but maybe isn’t in the financial position to do so, and it’s with a genuine person whose heart is in the right place.”
