THE dream of setting off on a trip of a lifetime through Queensland’s regional towns and cities is being wrecked by a heartless tax introduced by Annastacia Palaszczuk’s government.

Grey nomads who’ve done their sums to plan their trip across this state in a motorhome or campervan are now being slugged thousands of dollars extra by Labor.

Many have worked hard their whole lives to afford their dream vehicle or sold their houses to fund the purchase.

But the Labor Government has also done the sums and found there’s revenue to be raised by taxing motorhomes and campervans.

Labor needs to prop up a sick Budget and an $83 billion debt bomb and decided grey nomads can cop the next tax whack.

These aren’t the mega-rich, these are normal Queenslanders who have worked hard, paid their taxes and now Annastacia Palaszczuk wants them to pay more.

The vehicle tax will add thousands of dollars to the cost of a campervan – thousands that should have been spent in the regional towns along the path of the grey nomads’ travels.

Many of these regional towns’ economies rely heavily on the stream of grey nomads.

Bit by bit and tax by tax, Labor is making it harder for Queenslanders to reach their dreams.

On behalf of Queenslanders, I have written to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk asking her to scrap this tax on motorhomes and campervans and stop ripping off retirees. DEB FRECKLINGTON, LNP LEADER

THE “Great Aussie Dream” was not a 400sq m block with no back yard.

Council has to put an end to getting as many blocks out of a parcel of land as they can and come back to a decent size yard. My yard is one metre wide. Nice looking at the fence! NOT!

Have a look at Pimpama, Coomera etc and the crime rate. Nowhere except the streets for kids to play on. GARRY DAVIS

AS a baby boomer I find it hard to respect many of my generation in regards to their opposition to the removal of plastic shopping bags.

We never grew up with these

pollutants, yet my generation are the loudest in their condemnation of the eradication of this pollutant strangling us.

If I was to join their chanting, I am fortunate enough to know I will turn my toes up before these pollutants strangle this poor old world. D.J. FRASER, CURRUMBIN

ABC and other TV news headline “Trump backflips over detention of children”, shows their poor analytical non-news ability. All business people review and improve decisions many times a day, which is why they are successful.

As Lord Keynes famously said: “When the facts change, I change my mind ... What do you do, Sir?” .

Clearly President Trump corrects errors and gets things done – others show ignorance and disrespect – the people elected a businessman to “Make America Great Again”, they did not elect a saint or another inept politician. G.J. MAY, FORESTDALE

TO those offended by parked orange bikes, best stay at home, there are a lot worse chained up at light rail stations and the Southport mall. They must be more dangerous if they require locking up. ROD WATSON, SURFERS PARADISE
