SUMMARY

A mix of small-scale E windswell and fading SSE groundswel­l keep wave heights ranging from 1 to 3ft across exposed breaks on Thursday before both swells fade to lower levels throughout Friday; culminatin­g in smaller 1 to 2ft waves across the region all weekend. A pattern of mostly light inshore winds to moderate ENE to N prevail for the next few days, ahead of a SSE change arriving on Sunday.

TODAY

Mix of fading E windswell and residual SSE swell under calm conditions. Better option early with clean 2ft+ sets on exposed beaches, grading to 1ft in bays and points. WIND: Calm to light WNW early, tending N 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

TOMORROW

Small calm residual ESE swell. Slow 1 to 2ft exposed areas, tending near flat to 1ft inside the points and bays. WIND: Early NW to NNW 5 to 10 knots, tending light and variable to NNE to 10 knots during the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Slight E windswell around 1 to 2ft+ exposed breaks, otherwise still 1 to 2ft across the majority of open beaches. Grading to tiny levels, inside the points and bays. WIND: WSW to SW 5 to 10 knots early, tending SSE 10 to 20 knots in the afternoon.

MONDAY

E swell to 2ft exposed QLD breaks, mixing with slight SSE windswell at similar levels across northern NSW open breaks. Grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: SW to SSW 10 to 15 knots, tending S to SSE during the afternoon.

TUESDAY

Potential for rising SE windswell. Up to 2 to 3ft+ exposed beaches early, rising into the 3 to 4ft range during the afternoon. Grading to a smaller 1 to 2ft inside the points and bays. WIND: SW to SSW 10 to 20 knots early, tending SSE 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon.
