CUPID SWAPS HIS WINGS FOR RUNNING SHOES

- NICHOLAS MCELROY

LOVE was in the air at the Gold Coast Airport Marathon yesterday.

Damien Lee, 41, dropped on to one knee and proposed to the love of his life Cobie Harradine, 37, after running the ASICS Half Marathon by her side.

She said yes.

“It’s been a long awaited proposal,” Damien said after the pair crossed the finishing line. “We set a goal in training together to run the half marathon in under two hours, I thought, we’ve come this far, why not propose?”

The pair, who met online, said they took turns in training and looking after the kids, George, 8, Alex, 6, and Lucy, 4, in the months leading up to the event.

Meanwhile, Ken Wong proposed to Jiewen Wen Lee just after they finished the full marathon.

Ken said it was a special day for them. “We’re from Malaysia, we run together, we finish together … It was great,” he said.
