Death case ongoing
HER alleged killer has been charged but police are still attempting to establish how Brisbane teenager Larissa Beilby’s body wound up inside a barrel north of the Gold Coast.
Zlatko Sikorsky, 34, was charged with murder and misconduct of a corpse after being arrested on Saturday after a 28-hour siege on the Sunshine Coast.
Sikorsky is due to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court today accused of killing the 16-year-old high school student.
Police said their investigation was very much ongoing, with the cause of Larissa’s death yet to be determined and question marks over how many people helped Sikorsky.
A 40-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man have already been charged with being accessories after the fact to murder and are due to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
Superintendent Mark White told reporters police had been “actively trying” to find Sikorsky before the body’s discovery as he was wanted on a return to prison warrant.
Supt White praised investigators as well as the public for the swift arrest of Sikorsky.
“Seventy-two hours after we commenced the investigation we had a male person in custody, so from our perspective it’s been very successful,” he said.
