Death case ongoing

HER alleged killer has been charged but police are still attempting to establish how Brisbane teenager Larissa Beilby’s body wound up inside a barrel north of the Gold Coast.

Zlatko Sikorsky, 34, was charged with murder and misconduct of a corpse after being arrested on Saturday after a 28-hour siege on the Sunshine Coast.

Sikorsky is due to face Maroochydo­re Magistrate­s Court today accused of killing the 16-year-old high school student.

Police said their investigat­ion was very much ongoing, with the cause of Larissa’s death yet to be determined and question marks over how many people helped Sikorsky.

A 40-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man have already been charged with being accessorie­s after the fact to murder and are due to face the Maroochydo­re Magistrate­s Court today.

Superinten­dent Mark White told reporters police had been “actively trying” to find Sikorsky before the body’s discovery as he was wanted on a return to prison warrant.

Supt White praised investigat­ors as well as the public for the swift arrest of Sikorsky.

“Seventy-two hours after we commenced the investigat­ion we had a male person in custody, so from our perspectiv­e it’s been very successful,” he said.
