Serena escapes spotlight to catch up with Meghan
SERENA Williams yesterday cancelled her pre-Wimbledon press conference at the last minute so she could accompany Meghan Markle to watch Prince Harry play polo.
Williams, who is close friends with the Duchess of Sussex, was set to speak to the media about a tournament in which she has won seven singles titles.
Yet minutes before she was due to arrive, it was announced that the 36-year-old would not be turning up, and Williams is now scheduled to speak today instead.
She will face questions about claims that she has been drug-tested more than any other US tennis player this year. Website Deadspin claimed that a US Anti-Dop- ing Agency officer turned up at her home in Florida on June 14 for an unannounced test, which would have been her sixth this year.
