WINNERS

Sona Dancer (Race 2)

Sona Dancer was sent out as the $1.45 favourite for the F&M Maiden and didn’t let the punters down, with an all-the-way six and a quarter lengths trouncing of her opposition. Sona Dancer was quick to leave the barriers and apprentice Clayton Gallagher had no hesitation is taking the Danerich filly straight to the front, and the result was never in doubt.

Awake The Stars (Race 4) Awake The Stars gave the punters another trouble-free result with the $2.25 favourite leading from barrier to post for an easy two-and-three-quarter lengths win. Winning jockey Anthony Allen summed up the situation quickly and let Awake The Stars stride to front after leaving the gates cleanly, and the Toby Edmonds-trained mare was never headed.

Captivator (Race 8) Punters had to work hard in the last to go home with their winnings after the odds-on favourite Captivator had to pull out all stops to get the money and give apprentice Clayton Gallagher a winning treble. Captivator had to fight off the challenge of the runner-up Crab Boy before forging clear. LOSERS

The Hussler (Race 3) Punters were left lamenting when the $3 favourite The Hussler failed to produce the goods and dropped out in the straight to finish fourth, seven and three-quarter lengths from the winner Ditmas. The Hussler had a trouble-free run racing just behind the leader but didn’t look comfortable on the rainaffected track.

On The Spot (Race 6)

The odds-on favourite On The Spot ($1.90) was quick out of the barriers and apprentice Clayton Gallagher had the four-year-old positioned just behind the leader in the run to the home turn. Gallagher let On The Spot run to the front at the 300m but was unable to hold off the strong finish of the winner Academy Hill and had to settle for the runner’s-up cheque.

NEXT TIME

Alma Bubbles (Race 1)

Alma Bubbles handled the soft track conditions to perfection to record a runaway seven-and-aquarter lengths win to break through for her maiden win and on that performance will be winning again in the near future. Alma Bubbles was sent out as the $3.10 equal favourite and had the race won a long way from home. Stick with the Al Maher filly when she lines up again over a middle distance on a rainaffected track.
