Tweed cop dog set to bow-wow out of force
TWEED police will farewell their faithful four-legged team member, Granite, into retirement after his last shift today as a police dog.
The hard-working black german shepherd has been a part of the NSW police force since 2011, working with his handler in the Tweed and Byron regions of the Richmond Police District.
He will now retire to a companion home on the North Coast.
“You couldn’t ask for a better police dog and partner. Granite was always out of the car and game on. He did everything asked of him and never took a backward step,” his handler said.
A general purpose dog will be trained up and begin working in the district in coming weeks.
