MISSING BOYS FOUND ALIVE IN CAVE

-

TWELVE boys, aged 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old soccer coach have been found huddled on a dry ledge deep inside a dark, flooded cave in northern Thailand after being trapped for nearly 10 days.

The team and their coach were exploring the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai on June 23 when flooding from monsoonal rains blocked their exit out of the complex network, with the rain hampering rescue efforts.

Chiang Rai Governor Narongsak Osatanakorn confirmed the group had been found but warned they were not yet out of danger and must be strengthened for the arduous job of getting back out.

“We will care for them until they have enough strength to move ... then we will evaluate the situation on bringing them out again later,” he said.
