Bail for man accused of robbery at gunpoint

-

A MAN accused of robbing another man at gunpoint in an Arundel garage and also broke into a Southport home has been granted bail.

Police have alleged both incidents were related to drugs.

Naser Ajazi, 26, did not enter a plea in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to robbery and two counts of burglary.

He has been committed to stand trial on the charges in the Southport District Court.

The court heard on January 9, Ajazi and another man confronted a third person in a garage and threatened him. It has been implied the threats were made in relation to a drug deal.

The victim claims there was a gun involved but defence lawyer Bettina Webb, of Howden Saggers Lawyers, said when she reviewed the footage she could not see a gun.

“(Ajazi) does not play in a major role in that offending and barely makes any threats,” Ms Webb said.

Just to months later Ajazi and another made broke into a woman’s Scarborough Street, Southport home, stealing a packet of cigarettes and $600.

The court was told yesterday it had been “inferred” the break-in was in relation to a drug debt.

Ajazi is also facing burglary charges for an October 29, 2010 where a group of men broke into a Pacific Pines home and stole a laptop.

Magistrate Mark Howden granted Ajzai bail on the condition he not contact the victims or any witnesses and he abide by a curfew and not leave his Biggera Waters home between 9pm and 6pm.
