Warning over myGov scam

SCAMMERS are attempting to trick users of the Federal Government’s myGov website into sharing their personal banking and login details.

“The scam starts with a phishing email that looks like it is from Medicare, asking you to update your Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) details, so you can start receiving payments for Medicare benefits and claims,” the StaySmartOnline service said in a statement yesterday.

Users have been warned that the replica of the real myGov website has a URL address including “.net” instead of “.gov.au”.
